How to measure your wall correctly for your decor VLAdiLA

To ensure your wall decor House of VLAdiLA fits flawlessly, it’s essential to measure the wall accurately. Follow the guide below to get the ideal dimensions—whether your wall is standard, sloped, has cut-outs or decorative panels.

1. Straight / standard wall

1. Measure the total width of the wall (from one corner to the other).
2. Measure the total height of the wall (from floor to ceiling).
3. Add +10 cm to the width and +10 cm to the height.

This extra allowance lets us trim and adjust the artwork precisely, even when the wall isn’t perfectly straight or the corners aren’t exact.

2. Sloped or angled wall (attic / loft)

1. Identify the highest point and the greatest width of the wall.
2. Measure these maximum dimensions (height and width).
3. Add an allowance of +10 cm to both height and width.

The decor VLAdiLA will be printed as a rectangle, and the excess will be cut and adjusted during installation to follow the slope of the wall.

3. Walls with windows, doors or other elements

1. Measure the full width of the wall, as if it were continuous, from one end to the other.
2. Measure the total height, from floor to ceiling.
3. Add +10 cm extra to width and height.

Cut-outs for windows, doors, sockets or switches will be made later during installation.

4. Multiple walls or decor that continues around a corner

1. Measure the width of each wall you want to cover and add them together.
2. Measure the maximum common height of the wall / main wall.
3. Add an allowance of +10 cm to the total width and +10 cm to the height.

This lets us create a continuous mural composition, ideal for open-plan rooms or panoramic decor that wraps from one wall to another.

5. Walls with decorative panels, frames or mouldings

1. Carefully measure the usable space inside each panel (width and height).
2. Consider the position of sockets, switches or any other details inside the panels.
3. Add +10 cm to the width and +10 cm to the height for each decorated surface.
4. For several adjacent panels, you can add another +5 cm to the width for each panel, to ensure a perfect fit.

This way, the decor sits flawlessly within frames or mouldings, with clean edges and an elegant finish.

6. Stairs – how to measure correctly before ordering

Before ordering an artwork for stairs, it’s important to measure each wall individually.

Measure the width of each individual wall and add these measurements together. As a safety margin, add another 10 cm to each wall (around 3 inch) so you have enough material for installation.

Then measure the height. Always start from the highest point of the wall and, as with the width, add an extra 10 cm (3 inch) to allow for small differences or irregularities.

It’s not necessary to order the artwork in separate pieces for each stair wall. The mural can be produced as a single composition, then adjusted and fitted to each surface during installation.

Why is it important to add a few extra centimetres?

Walls are never perfectly straight, corners can vary, and differences of 0,5–1 cm can become visible during installation. That’s why we recommend a small material allowance.

The decor House of VLAdiLA is made to measure, based on the dimensions you provide. By adding approximately 10 cm extra on each side, we ensure:

– easier, more secure installation,
– no risk of uncovered areas,
– fine adjustment of the design directly on your wall.
